Shanghai Auto Show: Hyundai Elantra Puts on a New Face for China

The Hyundai Group is now pointing its arrows to the world’s biggest auto market with the unveiling of two new models for China at this week’s 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, the Elantra Yuedong compact sedan and the mid-size Azera, which is badged as Grandeur in some markets.

If the Elantra Yuedong looks familiar, that’s because it is a facelifted version of the fourth generation model sold in the States until 2010. The most prominent change on the outside concerns the revised front that draws on the Azera’s styling.

According to Hyundai, the interior has also been upgraded with higher quality materials and new convenience and safety features such as a smart key / button start, front side airbag, Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS), Navigation, USB2.0 port and eco-driving guide system.

2012 Hyundai Accent: #Pointless Sneak Peek of N.A-Spec Hatch on @Twitter

Unless Hyundai’s sneak peek has something to do with the interior décor of the 2012 Accent shown at the annual Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival, there’s really not much to say about the South Korean firm’s cropped photo-posting on Twitter.

True, Hyundai will premiere its new sub-compact for the first time in the USA at the upcoming New York International Auto Show, but it won’t be a first per se as we’ve seen the new car in Beijing, in Moscow with a different name and face and more recently, at the 2011 Montreal Auto Show in January (see the video after the break).

Hyundai’s Futuristic Viral Ad Campaign for the New Accent [with Video]

In a very interesting melding of the virtual and real world, Hyundai has crafted a new viral ad to showcase its 2012 Accent sub-compact and highlight the brand’s new slogan “New Thinking. New Possibilities.". What makes this futuristic video intriguing is that the viral includes an actual 2012 Hyundai Accent suspended on a wall with a driver walking down the side to get into the car. At the same time, we see a film being projected on the wall creating an eye-catching combo.

See both the shorter and full version of Hyundai’s new viral of the 2012 Accent right after the jump.

The 2011 Seoul Motor Show that runs in South Korea from March 31 to April 10 plays host to the world premiere of the all-new Hyundai Blue2 concept study. The four-door saloon is powered by a fuel cell electric system that delivers a stack power of 90kW or 121HP and fuel economy of 34.9km/ℓ (of hydrogen, of course), which is equal to 82mpg US and 2.9lt/100km. Hyundai elantra 2011

The Elantra model was first introduced in 1991 by the Hyundai Motor Company as a predecessor to the Hyundai-Excel and successor to the Hyundai 130 model released exclusively in Europe.

The vehicle falls under the category of compact cars and is designed based on the FF layout.

The Hyundai Elantra in South Korea is also called as Hyundai Avante and even as Lantra in some of the European and Australian.

Hyundai accent 2011

Hyundai’s fluidic sculpture design language has now spread to the smallest vehicle in its lineup, and the new sub-compact slated to take the place of the aging Accent was unwrapped on the floor of the Beijing Motor Show. We’ve been seeing spy shots of the next generation Accent for some time and it very clearly follows the same design path as its big brother the Sonata.
The little sedan, badged the Verna outside the U.S., has the same rounded coupe-like greenhouse and rising crease up the sides. Inside the Verna/Accent definitely has a more attractive, higher-quality feel than the current model, although calling it up-scale would be slightly disingenuous. We’ll have to wait and see what kind materials the North American model gets before making a decision.
Power is slated to come from either a 1.4- or 1.6-liter inline-four, producing 106 horsepower and 120 hp, respectively, with a standard five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic. Expect the U.S. version to come packing the larger four-pot when it goes on sale early next year. Full details in the press release after the jump.

Hyundai ix20

Hyundai has had a busy time this year unveiling its new ix20 MPV, the refreshed i10 and new developments for its Blue Drive eco-focused programme.
The ix20 is aimed at the likes of the Kia Venga, Citroen C3 Picasso and Vauxhall Meriva and is available with a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines in November for around £11,500.
The diesels, both 1.4 litres, come in 77bhp or 90bhp versions with the 77bhp variant emitting 119g/km of CO2 and averaging 63mpg. The more powerful 90bhp version returns 46mpg and emits 140g/km of CO2. The Blue Drive economy versions of the diesels emit 114g/km and 139g/km of CO2, while returning 66mpg and 47mpg respectively.

As a continuing demonstration of its faith in the durability and build quality of its products, the i30, like every new Hyundai sold in the UK, comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

2011 Hyundai Sonata

Starting Price: $19,195

Completely redesigned for 2011, the new Hyundai Sonata is one of the most unusual-looking midsize sedans we’ve seen in years. But that’s not the only reason it stands out. The Sonata is now one of the cheapest cars in its class and continues to carry one of the longest powertrain warranties. It also comes with impressive standard features like XM satellite radio and Bluetooth. Reviewers like it so much that at press time, the Sonata was ranked at the top of its class.

Hyundai offers the Sonata with only a four-cylinder engine, though almost every other car in its class is available with a V6. Still, since the Sonata is a light car, it offers plenty of power. Even better is its impressive fuel economy. The 2011 Sonata is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid car in its class.
