Honda ridgeline 2012

2012 honda ridgeline
When Honda announced it would produce a tweener pickup (not quite large like an F-150, bigger than a Tacoma) capable of seating 5 and carrying on all the duties any good DIY (do-it-yourselfer) would want, truck loyalists scoffed. First off, the truck has unibody construction (vs. a ‘heavier’ duty body-on-frame of most trucks) which is (mostly) perceptually inferior than a traditional body-on-frame truck. And while most people couldn’t tell the difference, it was labeled (unfairly) a car-based truck. Truth is, car companies can make unibody trucks that are extremely capable. Second, Honda didn’t have any meaningful history with pickups. As Toyota learned the hard way, larger pickups are something that takes time to develop as the core buyers are extremely loyal to the domestic brands. It took Toyota a decade to break 100,000 units and they had a “feeder” system with hundreds of thousands of loyal Tacoma drivers on the road. Third, the competition is fierce. Ford and Chevy have such an advantage in the marketplace in terms of economies of scale and manufacturing experience. I mean, why take a risk on a Honda when a cheaper, more proven domestic pickup was actually superior? Personally, I don’t think the product was wrong in any way, but it wasn’t right for the brand. One thing is for sure, people who bought them loved them. If you look at the consumer ratings on Honk.com, the Honda Ridgeline scores a A-, which is just about as good as any other pickup in its class.
Overall, the Honda Ridgeline has been a sales flop for Honda. And while it initially achieved its sales goals of 50k units, the recent sales slump has dragged their sales volume below 20,000 units per year – hardly a sustainable number for Honda. Of course, Honda did spark a new resurgence in unibody pickup interest. Kia, GM, and even Ford have all been actively looking into unibody compact pickups, although many have said those programs will now go away. Truth is, the big boys have a grasp of this market and the DIY market has slowly retreated back into the cars they came from. I guess rebuilding your house is not as cool as it was a few years back!
Let me take a quick moment to douse a little 40oz onto the pavement for the Honda Ridgeline. One good note is that the Honda Ridgeline pricing should be pretty fantastic the last two years of production. I imagien the prices will start to fall now that the announcement has been made. Expect many incentives if you want to be the last 40-50K owners of this vehicle.
Let’s take another moment to bow our heads in silence to other unibody pickups that have failed before the Honda Ridgeline…

Honda Element 2012

While the Honda Element may seem like just another boxcar clone, the element entered the American market well before Kia, Scion, and Nissan models. The Element has distinctive styling; it comes with a bigger body, one powertrain offering, and All-Wheel-Drive.The attributes that make the Element different from the rest include the visually-appealing interior, clamshell-cargo doors, and its well-appointed cabin. It's sold with a 2.4 L inline-four engine, and it is a bit bigger than the vehicle it replaces in this segment. The Element is an SUV alternative and is not necessarily ideal as an urban drive about. If you love the outdoors the Element may appeal to your tastes. Basic niceties include stain-resistant carpeting, upholstery that is waterproof, and add-ons like a cooler for keeping beverage chilled. You can even get the Element in a dog friendly version: the 2010 special addition that hosts a ramp, netting and stain-resistant components.Opting for the SC trim level you will discover a vehicle with superior on the road grip, a great suspension, responsive steering, large wheels, and a speedy drive

Honda civic 2012

Overseas, the Honda Civic is a rakish hatchback available in three- and five-door bodystyles, as well as a high-performance Type R variant with more than 180 horsepower on tap. The vehicle seen in these latest spy shots depict this ‘global’ Civic, although its modified state suggests it is in fact a test-mule for the next-generation model due in late 2011 as a 2012

The latest images depict a car much closer to the final stages of design, without cabling and wires sticking out at odd places. Instead, it’s a sleek hatchback with fairly generous side cladding to hide the flares and character lines that no doubt run the length of the car. The overall size appears to be slightly wider and longer than the current Civic, meaning interior space should grow accordingly.
The earlier test-mule was wearing the new model’s bumpers and features an elevated hood, either to fit a new engine or test equipment. The wheelbase looks to be the same, although we can clearly see that the rear fenders are slightly wider than on the current car.

Honda civic 2012
Not much else is known about the car but there are rumors that a new three-cylinder engine option will join the four-cylinder range. There’s also word that the hybrid system from the recently revealed CR-Z Hybrid will make it into the new Honda Civic.
As for the local version of the Civic, not much is known but an all-new model is expected to debut around the late 2011-early 2012 mark as well.

2012 honda pilot

Any appearance changes to the 2012 Honda Pilot would be minor alterations to the grille and front fascia, perhaps to the taillamps, and maybe to the wheels. They would fall under the heading of a mid-cycle freshening for a Pilot design introduced for model-year 2009.
That’s when Honda replaced the soft-looking first-generation 2003-2008 Pilot with a squared-up, broad-shouldered rig meant to conjure the tough attitude of an old-school, truck-based SUV. Actually, Pilot traces its underskin architecture to the Honda Odyssey minivan. It has car-type unibody engineering in which the body and frame form a single unit. That’s in contrast to the heavier-duty body-on-frame build of a truck-type SUV such as the Chevrolet Tahoe.
Comparatively lightweight unibody design benefits fuel economy and handling and is what makes Pilot a crossover. Most crossovers have sleeker styling – see the Toyota Highlander — but few manage to fit so roomy a third-row seat into a body that’s a manageable 16 feet long. Overall, Pilot’s cabin is spacious and airy and while maximum cargo volume is an unexceptional 87 cubic feet, you’ll need a longer vehicle to get significantly more.
Build quality is solid, interior materials impressive. We’d urge Honda to incorporate into any model-year 2012 freshening a more harmonious dashboard design with fewer buttons and switches. Don’t expect Honda to tamper much with a Pilot lineup that’s likely to again consist of four models: base LX; midline EX; leather-upholstered EX-L; and top-of-the-line Touring.
Visual differences between the models are apt to remain slim, running to distinctions like plainer wheels for the LX model. Speaking of rims, Honda’s taken the conservative route and equipped all Pilot models with modestly sized 17-inch wheels and tires. It evidently judges that optimal for ride quality and weight management.
Newer rivals are happy to err on the side of fashion, offering 18-, 19-, and 20-inch diameter wheels (the Ford Edge Sport has 22s). Would Honda use a 2012 Pilot revamp to toss off this crossover’s sensible shoes for something more adventurous? Don’t bet on it.
